What is Byler Cowrite?

A real-time, round-robin writing game for Byler fanfiction.

• ✍️ Round-robin writing, take turns adding one line each under a ticking countdown. The server owns the clock: when time's up, whatever you were typing is committed and play moves on.
• 🗳️ Scenario votes, every game opens with a group vote on curated Byler prompts, and anyone can add their own scenario to the ballot.
• ⌨️ Live typing, watch the current writer's line appear as they type it, with rich text (bold / italic / underline).
• 💬 Docked chat, a collapsible chat panel with unread counts and message sounds, plus incoming/outgoing line sounds. Two channels: a private writers chat, and a spectator chat everyone shares, spectators get random Stranger Things names and their chatter is never saved.
• 👤 Accounts, sign up with email + username + password to play: your profile keeps your color, word count, badges, and every game you've written in.
• 🏆 Badges, a word-count ladder from 🐶 Puppy Mike (5,000 words) to 🌀 Crazy Together (150,000), plus secret badges earned by writing… the right thing (some need the right combination of words in one line). Unlocks announce to the whole session.
• 🎲 Gimmicks, rank rewards you PLAY to distract the table: in a non-friendly game, "🎲 Play gimmick" in the foot bar hands you a d20 in your own colour to throw around the screen, over the story, over the editor, over everyone's screen, the writer's included. Every landing is called in the chat, and a natural 20 steals the turn (unless you've opted out). First up: the Hellfire d20, unlocked with the Hellfire Club theme; if one writer at the table has it, everyone can play it.
• 📚 Previous games, a private archive of every game you wrote in, with a Continue button to pick any story back up.
• 📖 All stories, a read-only library of every story ever written here: search by title, filter by tag, sort by date or word count.
• 🏷 Tags, writers tag their stories tumblr-style (#fluff, #slow burn…), during the game or after it's finished.
• 🔑 Permanent codes, every game keeps its 4-letter code forever. Rejoin from any device just by logging in and entering the code.
• 🚪 Host-gated joins, started or continued games require host approval for new (or returning) writers, with a 5-minute cooldown if the host says no.
• 👑 Host controls, name the story, pause/resume, retune turn length and rounds mid-game, approve joins, end & reveal, and continue after the reveal.
• 🌐 Dashboard, who's online, games in progress with Join buttons, and your recent stories.
• 💌 Friends & inbox, send friend requests from any profile, accept or decline them in your inbox (with read/unread and delete), and see which friends are online right from the dashboard.
• 🟢 Presence everywhere, live online/offline dots beside every name: roster, chat, story lines, even old messages update in place.
• 📤 Export, when the story's done, copy it as formatted rich text or download a clean, styled HTML file (bylines stripped, prose only).
• 🎨 Nineteen themes, Neon Dusk, Aurora, Inkwell, The Wall, Snow Ball, Upside Down, Starcourt, Palace Arcade, Cerebro, Hawkins Lab, Castle Byers, Vecna's Clock, The Void, Family Video, Hellfire Club, Rink-O-Mania, Camp Know Where, Russian Bunker, and The Pollywog, with GSAP-animated everything.
